On Monday 10th March 2014, at 10am, the team at Land’s End Landmark and The Land’s End Hotel proudly raised the Commonwealth Flag in celebration of Commonwealth Day.

Land’s End was one of over 500 locations across the UK, Channel Islands and the Isle of Man taking part and the event is the largest, single raising of the flag in the history of the Commonwealth.

The Commonwealth Flag is now flying high in two separate locations on the Land’s End site– one in front of the main entrance and one in the middle of the main square.

Two individuals were selected to raise the flags, David Bryans, General Manager of Land’s End and Anneliese Marshall, Restaurant and Bar Manager of The Land’s End Hotel.

To further honour the occasion, the Commonwealth Affirmation along with a message of 'good wishes' from Her Majesty The Queen, were read at both locations as the flags were raised by Alice Reynolds, Marketing Manager and Emily Jelbert, Functions Coordinator of The Land’s End Hotel.

This afternoon, Her Majesty will 'break' the Commonwealth Flag outside the Great West Door of Westminster Abbey and will then attend the annual Commonwealth Observance; a service which will also be attended by The Duke of Edinburgh, Prince of Wales, Duchess of Cornwall and The Earl and Countess of Wessex.
